The experiment was designed to study long-term changes in communities strucutre in response to global change (climatic change) and local anthropogenis pressures (e.g. eutrophication). Muddy sand macrobenthic communities are monitored five times a year at the "Rivière de Morlaix" site. After collection, the sediment was sieved (1 mm circular mesh) and the retained material is fixed with 10 % neutralized formalin prior to analysis in the lab.
In the laboratory, organisms are sorted, identified to species level and stored in a 70% ethanol solution.
Fine sand macrobenthic communities long-term monitoring in Rivière de Morlaix site (Bay of Morlaix - France).
Macrofauna is sampled using a Smith McIntyre grab covering a surface of 0.1 m2. Ten replicates are collected at each sampling date.
